POKOTABI / Kissa Momo
喫茶Momo
From retro whole-wheat hotcakes made with Hokkaido flour to jet-black hayashi rice and seasonal fruit floats, Kissa Momo pairs thoughtful dishes with a calm cafe setting.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Aromatic browning topped with rich Calpis butter makes Kissa Momo's Retro Hotcakes an immediate standout. Hokkaido whole-wheat flour gives the batter a deep grain fragrance and a pleasingly chewy texture. Enjoyed with alternating bites of whipped cream and butter, the dish brings a refined satisfaction to classic comfort.
Savory selections are crafted with equal care. Western-style kissaten plates include the Grown-Up Jet-Black Hayashi Rice, made with house demi-glace slowly cooked until deeply toasted, and a European-style chicken curry enriched with house-roasted spices. There is also a mixed rice bowl combining sweet-savory minced meat miso, colorful vegetables, and sixteen-grain rice, offering a dependable choice for a hearty lunch.
Eye-catching dessert beverages are well worth exploring. Seasonal creations highlight distinct fruit profiles, from a fresh melon float using Chiba Andes and Takami melons meant to be sipped as the sorbet melts into sparkling soda, to a strawberry rose float blending Nyoho strawberry sorbet with delicate floral notes. Housemade options also include a spiced lemonade brewed from simmered roasted-spice syrup and a koji soda built on the natural sweetness of fermentation.
On the 2th floor in Higashi-Oi, Shinagawa Ward, antique-style lighting and lace tablecloths welcome guests to slow down over coffee and a comforting plate.
